Her Story
What I didn't expect was that many important lessons would come not from medical school, but from the ancient traditions I had grown up alongside — and from a yoga mat.
I grew up in a family where Ayurvedic wisdom was simply part of life — remedies, rituals, and ways of living passed down through generations of careful observation. As a doctor who studied and trained in the Western medical system, my instinct was to question what I couldn't clinically verify. But the more I looked, the more I found the science was already there, in the form of ancient wisdom.
After time in clinical practice, I stepped back to be present for my young family — and in that quieter space, something shifted. I deepened my study of yoga, Ayurveda, and integrative nutrition, and began to see that these ancient systems are not in conflict with modern medicine. They are its ancestor.
I am now writing The Yoga Prescription — a book that brings these two worlds together. It explores five pillars of yoga through the lens of both ancient wisdom and modern science, offering readers a more complete picture of what it means to be well. Modern medicine is nothing short of miraculous — it saves lives every day in ways our ancestors could not have imagined. This book is not a departure from that. It is an invitation to go further.
I share what I learn here — the science, the stories, and the practical tools that bridge East and West. If you are a clinician, a practitioner, or simply someone who suspects there is more to living well than a traditional prescription pad can offer, I invite you to visit often and follow along on social media.
Philosophy
True health encompasses body, breath, mind, and spirit. No single system of medicine holds the complete picture — wisdom lives at the intersection.
Ancient practices deserve rigorous inquiry. Modern research deserves humility. The most powerful medicine often lives where these two meet.
Wellness is not a luxury. The practices in The Yoga Prescription are designed to be practical, adaptable, and available to anyone willing to begin.
